I have been fascinated by the Titanic from my grandmother’s stories since age 5.  With the wreck site discovery in 1985, Titanic became my favorite subject and I was inspired to passionately instill the same sense of wonder, research, and questioning later when I became an educator. After completing my Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctoral coursework, I became a lecturer at Nebraska Wesleyan University and designed and taught the first, semester-long, Titanic class in the world. Because of its great success, I earned four grants that allowed me to travel throughout the world researching Titanic at exhibitions, museums, and famous related sites. I am an elected committee member on the board of The Belfast Titanic Society and a co-editor of their international journal, CQD. I am also a member of The Titanic International Society; The Titanic Historical Society; Titanic Society of Atlantic Canada; British Titanic Society, and German Titanic Society. I have done numerous interviews for radio and TV, including the esteemed BBC. 

I started Titanically Speaking, a lecture company, as a way of sharing my Titanic knowledge world-wide. I have a vast selection of over 50 different Titanic talks that are applicable for everyone from youngsters in elementary school, middle school, and high school; to business professionals on weekend retreats; to week-long classes for seniors. My extremely successful talks teach the history of the period, and present lessons learned from the tragedy that apply to all ages. I reside in Half Moon Bay, California, with my husband, Matt.
